How to get to San Bernardino

Practical routes from Asunción, the airport and the region. Road distances, official links and real transport listings from the guide.

By car

Via Route PY02 (Mariscal José Félix Estigarribia)

The main route from Asunción is Route PY02 toward Caacupé / Ciudad del Este, with a turnoff to San Bernardino via Route PY23 / local access. Check traffic that day (holidays and summer often delay).

  1. Leave Asunción on Route PY02

Head east (Caacupé / Ciudad del Este). Route PY02 is the national road managed by MOPC.

  2. Turnoff to San Bernardino

After the Ypacaraí area / PY23 access, follow signs to San Bernardino. GPS usually finds the center well (Plaza Bernardino Caballero).

  3. Fuel and stops

There are fuel stations in town (listed in the local guide, Transport category). In high season, shore parking is more crowded.
