From August 3 to 7, 2026, Asunción hosts Paraguay's main technology week. Paraguay Tech Week (PYTW) gathers dozens of independent events under a single brand: hackathons, panels, business roundtables, meetups and after-offices spread across the capital.
One clarification up front: the week takes place in Asunción, not in San Bernardino. We are covering it here because the capital sits roughly 50 km from the lake town — 45 to 60 minutes along Ruta 2 — close enough to attend a summit during the day and still sleep by Lake Ypacaraí.
What Paraguay Tech Week actually is
PYTW is not one mega-event on one stage. It is a decentralized conference: each organization runs its own event and decides the format, the venue, the budget and the outcomes. The central team provides the umbrella brand, a unified calendar, media distribution and the coordination of international missions.
The initiative comes from LAN Accelerator, with institutional backing from BID Lab (the Inter-American Development Bank's innovation lab). The 2026 edition is the second one: the first ran from June 17 to 19, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza in Asunción.
Organizations that want to bring their own event submit it for approval; once accepted, it joins the official calendar for the week.
Five days, five themes
According to the programme published by the organizers — presented as a tentative agenda, subject to final adjustments — each day has its own focus:
- Monday, August 3 — opening day and community-run side events. The official kickoff is the Welcome Party at 7:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 4 — VC & Startups Summit, hosted by PARCAPY: Paraguay's venture capital summit, with funds from across Latin America. The day also includes an Investor Lunch at midday and an official cocktail in the evening.
- Wednesday, August 5 — Paraguay Tech Fest, PYTW's own event, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with keynotes, workshops, reverse pitches from funds and corporates, open innovation and more than a dozen activities in one venue.
- Thursday, August 6 — Fintech Iberoamérica Summit, organized by the Paraguayan Fintech Chamber, covering payments, fintech and open finance, at Paseo La Galería.
- Friday, August 7 — Paraguay Blockchain Summit, closing the week with blockchain, Bitcoin and digital assets.
Satellite activities orbit those four anchors, including an artificial intelligence hackathon by AI Tinkerers Paraguay at the Universidad Nacional de Asunción and an angel investment panel from Paraguay's angel investment network (RIAP).
Who it is for
The organizers describe three audiences:
- Founders raising capital, showing product and meeting regional funds without leaving Asunción.
- Investors looking for concentrated Southern Cone dealflow and a packed meeting schedule in five days.
- Companies and government, focused on open innovation, tech talent and brand positioning.
Why it matters if you live or do business in San Bernardino
San Bernardino and the Lake Ypacaraí area have a growing layer of small businesses, tourism services, restaurants, real estate agencies and remote professionals — including a large expat community. For that profile, a week like PYTW offers three practical things.
First, training and contacts without travel costs: most sessions last a day or a few hours, and the round trip to the capital fits into a single day.
Second, a business opportunity for local tourism. When the capital receives international delegations, nearby towns naturally enter the map for accommodation, dining and weekend trips. Anyone running a hotel, guesthouse, restaurant or transfer service in San Bernardino can prepare an offer and communicate it for those dates.
Third, a read on the market. Fintech, artificial intelligence, digital payments and automation are no longer startup-only topics: they change how a shop downtown takes payments and how a lakefront real estate agency serves a foreign client.
The first edition, in numbers
Figures published by the organizers for 2025 give a sense of scale: 3,400 tickets, more than 600 startups, more than 12 Latin American venture capital funds, roughly US$1.2 billion in assets under management represented, attendees from 18 countries, and 89 media outlets and partners.

Registration is not centralized: each event manages its own guest list on Luma, and the live agenda on the official site links every activity to its own signup page. Forms to host an event, sponsor the week or volunteer are available there as well.
